Libyan University Students’ Language Learning Strategy Use and Their Language Achievement

A common phenomenon of continuous innovations in the field ESL or EFL is learner-centred education. One these increasingly catching attention researchers Language learning strategies. However, as carry out studies this area, and pool diverse findings rises, further gaps are opened, calling for research interventions. This basically because broad nature Learning Strategies (LLSs) with their context-mediated influences. On background, present intended to investigate extent relationships between LLSs university students’ achievement Libya. The population study included 571 students from Department English at Faculty Arts Education, all departments Medical Technology. 309 subjects were randomly selected population. instrument data collection was SILL (strategy inventory language learning, adopted Oxford (1989). Data analysis done using t-tests. revealed that memory strategy cognitive both have significant impacts on foreign learners, while use compensation, metacognitive, affective, social strategies do not significantly impact learners.
